{Befores and Afters}... &... {Bang, Bang Shoot 'Em Up}

I've decided to give the {never used} living room a makeover.  We all hang out in the family room which has the TV, computer and XBOX and we sit in the living room on Christmas Eve.... that's it.  Oh, sometimes I hide in there to talk on the phone so my children can't hear me.  Now, I know if I added more of the stuff that plugs in {like a TV, computer or XBOX} to the living room my family would move right in.  So that's what I've decided to do.  I'm starting with a TV and games but the real dilemma is what to put them on.  I decided an old sideboard would be great since I can hide the gaming system and games inside but, truth be told, I'm not an antique kinda girl.  I'm far more modern - not minimalist modern - definitely not minimalist - but there's nothing shabby chic going on here.  Anyway, I found a store nearby that seems to LOVE their paint sprayer.  It's a consignment shop that also sells used furniture after they've given it a little facelift.  And while these pictures aren't exactly what I'm looking for - they gave me a lot of inspiration.  If I can find a piece with more sleek lines, I'll paint it black and we can all play BANG, BANG SHOOT 'EM UP in the living room.  And not just on Christmas Eve.

You're in great shape

Or, at least your house is in great shape.  Strong, classic lines appeal to me and I think that's why I'm drawn to each of these.  And I don't even have a dog.  The drum shaped table is my favorite... I have an ottoman in this shape with a removable slipcover and I'm reminded that it's time to pick a new fabric and spruce it up a bit!

The pefect little Christmas gift {emphasis on little}

I've started a new series in my handcrafted treasures and here's a sneaky peek - it's a tiny little Christmas tree - in the nick of time!  Just four and a half inches tall.  This one is for sale here and I'll be taking custom orders for just a little while... psst... Christmas is coming!

Nana and I used to make these in the 70's... before they had craft stores!!!  I have kits in my shop to make the Pinecone Trees {click here to shop}.  If you are interested in my finished pieces {like this tree} or requesting a tree in custom colors - shoot me an email at theWoolAcorn@gmail.com

Mirror, mirror on the wall

I have a friend whose husband (about 40) started exercising out of the blue.  Being fit and working out was always a big part of her life, she teaches the darn classes.  She had buns of steel.  But he had buns of cinnamon.  So here he was, working out and trying to lose a few pounds.... she started to wonder.  We all know this is not a good sign.  So, after several weeks of looking at him with a raised eyebrow, she finally asked.  What gives?  Turns out they had just remodeled their master bathroom.... and she had them install wall to wall mirrors.  Every bit of the bathroom reflected your naked everything each time you took a shower.  He was feeling the heat.  I personally would not make that choice - purely for the housekeeping issues (right).  But here are some more reasonable choices.

Ready for Thanksgiving?

I made these a few weeks ago by needle and wet felting the wool into balls, drilling holes in real acorn caps and threading them with satin ribbon.... They make perfect napkin rings and a great hostess gift.  If you don't want to make them yourself, you can order from The Wool Acorn.  The napkin rings can be made in a wide range of colors to match your decor with different colored ribbons and nuts to match - or not!  At just $2.40 each, they're a super thrifty way to pull all your colors together and add a great touch of charm!  Or take that hostess with the mostess a handful of acorns (although they come tagged and packaged in a cellophane bag) and she could put them anywhere!  Click here to see more colors or email for a special color request!

Shop.theWoolAcorn.com
Each acorn is handmade and can be customized with a broad range of colors.  I haven't even photographed them all so feel free to shoot me an email if your colors are anything from hot pink to mustard yellow to chocolate brown!  We can figure it out and get what you need in time for the holidays!

The modern Christmas wreath

Looking to step up the Christmas wreath this year to something smart, modern and just a little different?  Here's a little inspiration.... I especially like the idea of hanging something grand over the dining room table.  If you try it, send me a picture!
