Campaign style desks

Also known as x-leg or cross-leg style, they popular.  You can find the same look on tables and ottomans but here's a little inspiration in the desk category.

My next project: Paint my interior doors jet black!

This is a great way to make any place look instantly more chic.  Paint the doors black!!!  A black front door always looks sharp, but I'm talking about closets, bathrooms, bedrooms and the back of your front door.  I'm researching the paint (oil vs. latex, etc) and I'm going to post the before and after pictures when I'm done....  My front foyer has a main door with side light panels, two closet doors and the door to the lower level.  I can't wait to start!  But as far as I can tell, this works when you:
  1. Leave the trim around the doors white
  2. Use a quality high gloss paint
  3. The surrounding walls are pale
Stay tuned!

DIY Rope and LED light rug

While I love it in white, a darker color may be more durable.

Mid-century Modern Defined

MCM is a style of furniture design that began after World War II and continued into the 1960's.  It refers to the look that was popular in the middle of the 20th century.  You might call it mod or retro, but I call it cool.  My parents had an orange vinyl chair that I would give teeth to have again... I've scoured my father's house looking for it and I've asked 10 times.... "Where's that chair?".  Somehow he can't remember it.  Really?  It was bright ORANGE?  Anyway, I finally got my hands on a replica and I'm trying to decide on a fabric for the cushions.  The first picture is a dead ringer!

A small-ish DIY project - paint the INside of something

Since I've been painting my never-been-painted-before kitchen cabinets for the better part of a week, it's time to plan another project that has less.... commitment.  Pick one of these do-it-in-an-afternoon projects and paint the inside of something.  It could be the inside of your front door, a china cabinet, table drawer, window frame, kitchen cabinet or bookcase.
